The application deadline has been extended for the Weld County Colorado Master Gardener (volunteer) and the Colorado Garden Certificate (non-volunteer) spring training programs in 2019. Classes will occur from February 1st through April 13th on most Fridays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and will be located at the Larimer County Fairgrounds (The Ranch) in Loveland. There will be a mix of in-person and online classes. The application deadline for both programs (volunteer and non-volunteer) has been extended to Friday, November 30, 2018.
The Colorado Master Gardener program provides training in horticulture to interested gardeners who then volunteer their time, helping Colorado residents through Weld County’s Colorado State University Extension office. Working with CSU Extension experts, Master Gardeners provide services to Weld County residents such as answering gardening questions, conducting plant clinics, working with youth, developing demonstration or community gardens, and beautifying the community through their work. Candidates for the Colorado Master Gardener Program should want to learn more about plants and gardening and be willing to participate in the training program followed by the completion of required volunteer hours.
The Colorado Garden Certificate program is a non-volunteer option available to those who want to learn more about gardening in our climate but does not have any volunteer requirements. This training occurs at the same time as the Colorado Master Gardener training and students will receive a certificate at the end of training that can be used to promote their gardening expertise either personally or for business purposes.
